Precautions
Fruits are high in natural sugars
Although fruits are great sources for vitamins, minerals, nutrients and antioxidants, they also contain high amounts of natural sugars. This means that feeding your furry friend too many fruits can speed up teeth decay and can even be dangerous if your dog is diabetic. Because of this, be sure to consider your dog’s intake of fruits. Usually eating fruits as a small treat is the best way to go!
Fibre is great, but too much fibre is not so great
All fruits and vegetables contain soluble fibre. The right amount is great for digestive health - it can help keep your dog regular. However, too much fibre can cause constipation. Soluble fibre requires the absorption of water and feeding your dog too much can cause a lack of water and result in hard stools. Everything in moderation, even with fibre.
